Upper limb
The upper limb includes multiple joints; the shoulder, elbow, wrist and the many joints of the hand. Problems in the upper limb can make everyday activities hard, such as getting dressed, brushing hair and driving.
Common upper limb problems
Carpal tunnel
Squeezing of the median nerve at the wrist, causing tingling in the thumb, index and middle finger
Trigger finger
Catching of the tendon of the finger through it's sheath, resulting in clicking and locking of the finger
Cubital tunnel
Squeezing of the ulnar nerve at the elbow, causing pins and needles in the little and ring finger
Rotator cuff injury
Tears or inflammation to the group of tendons around the shoulder joint
Subacromial impingement
Narrowing of the space between the acromion and the rotator cuff tendons, causing pain
Acromioclavicular joint osteoarthritis
Wear and tear of the acromioclavicular joint
Tennis elbow
Overuse of the muscles attached to the outside of the elbow, causing pain
Golfer's elbow
Overuse of the muscles attached to the inside of the elbow, causing pain
Frozen shoulder
A stiff and painful shoulder, commonly associated with diabetes or trauma
